The new 179 Lhasa Pow fulfills the requests of smaller framed men and women for whom the 186 Lhasa Pow was too much ski.  From 100 lb. women to 175 lb. men, the reviews are unanimous - it rocks the hardpack and the powder with ease, edge, float and confidence. We jumped at the chance to improve and enhance the performance of this shorter Lhasa, so we started from scratch with some novel ideas and followed through with them.  We’re glad we did.  Women have been especially responsive to the modified sidecut of this ski, which places the narrowest part of the ski behind the foot.  The result is the best powder skiing of any ski ever made and much easier hardpack skiing on this semi pintail design. Tested on three continents over the last year and skied winter and summer, it was put through the demanding paces of testing on every kind of snow and ruled them all. The 179 Lhasa Pow is now  a mainstay in our quiver of one ski quiver skis. REVIEW: Says a 30 something year old powdermaggot from Vail who weighs 175 in a post on TGR... http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/235250-179-Lhasa-Pows-Carbon-Top-Hybrids-Price-Reduced?p=3482323#post3482323 They do ski even better than they look, really stoked on my 179 Lhasa Pows. I wanted to add that the craftsmanship on these is amazing. Was so impressed that I purchased the lightly used 183 Bro's on gear swap for my mid mountain, every day ride (the 183's are stiff, possibly hybrid construction from 2010/2011? orange top with the recent graphics). I have pair of 170 Dynafit Seven Summits for days when there would be a lot more walking than skiing, dreams like slaying corn on the side of a 14er on a nice spring day. I would describe the 170's as too short. Try these if you want to remember the true meaning of tip dive (that would never happen on the Lhasa) The 170 skinnies make you feel like Super Man holding Kryptonite on a powder day, while the Lhasa Pows encourage me to push the envelope and my skills to the limit. 5'6, 175 lbs. I'm an upper 30's dude, neither strong or heavy, who skis for fun, maybe 40 days a year. Powder quality over run quantity. I would never want to work on the mountain and I didn't get serious/hard core about skiing until 1996. In hindsight, I'm still glad I purchased an A-Basin Bonus pass, used greenish 2 buckle Scarpa's and pair of skis with my college loan in 1996.
